Dear Area Dart Players:

On behalf of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, Saco River Dart League and the Biddeford Eagles, I would like to thank you for supporting the Saco River Dart League’s 4th Annual Benefit Dart Tournament.

For the past four years the Saco River Dart League has sponsored a benefit tournament for a worthy cause. The past three years the Maine Children’s Cancer Program has been the beneficiary of our tournament. Including this year, our event has raised a total of $10,700.00 for them. This could have not been done without your help. Again, Thank You.

MCCP is the only comprehensive cancer treatment program for children in Maine.  Though linked to other research centers throughout the country and beyond, 100% of funds raised stay in Maine.

It is the Program's goal to help make living with childhood cancer a little easier for everyone. Cancer is in a very real sense a family disease, and families dealing with cancer need the best possible care.  Today, close to 70% of all children are cured of cancer.  This represents an increase in the long-term survival rate of nearly 25% over the last few decades.

The Maine Children's Cancer Program is a subsidiary program of Maine Medical Center.  The Program receives direct reimbursement for medical care from health insurance programs.  However, funds for psychosocial support and outreach programs, as well as clinical research activities, are obtained from general fundraising, private foundations, community groups, and state and federal grants.  Clearly this need is great.  And as new children are diagnosed with cancer and join the hundreds already under the care of the Maine Children's Cancer Program, that need for support continues to grow.

In closing, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you from all the families who will benefit from your support of the Maine Children's Cancer Program.

Sincerely,
